During the IX Italian Antarctic expedition (1993/94), 387 rocks and fossils have been sampled within the aim of the project "Geological mapping of the Ross Sea area" in northern Victoria Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks and fossil woods. During the XII Italian Antarctic expedition (1996/97), 529 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the GIGAMAP project in northern Victoria Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks and fossil woods. Geochemical-geochronological-structural study of lower Paleozoic igneous rocks and their bearings on the accretion and long-term evolution of the Antarctic plate" in northern and southern Victoria Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.
